Rochelle Mansour Norred, 79, a native of Newnan, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 surrounded by her loving husband and four devoted daughters. Born to the late Michael Vincent Mansour and Mayme Bohorfoush Mansour, Rochelle graduated from Newnan High School and attended Brenau College. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, John Charles Mansour. Rochelle was a founding and devoted member of St. George Catholic Church. She was active in the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society and was well known for her delicious coconut cakes which she baked many years for the annual church bake sale. For over 50 years, Rochelle and Hershall worked side by side in the Newnan Pawn Shop and Bonding Company on Newnan’s Court Square. She was a warm and welcoming face to scores of customers and visitors. Among her many talents, Rochelle could fix anything. Equally amazing was that anything you might need could be found in her purse. An avid supporter of downtown development, Rochelle was instrumental in starting the Newnan Main Street program which she supported for many years. She was chairperson of the Downtown Development Authority and the Carnegie Building Renovation. She also served on the Courthouse Renovation Committee and many other boards and committees for the city and county. Rochelle was a true ambassador for the city that she loved. She touched everyone she met with her kindness and generosity. Rochelle was an avid sports fan and loved her Atlanta Braves. She and Hershall enjoyed playing golf together for many years. She was President of the Newnan Country Club Ladies Golf Association and also served on the Country Club Board of Directors. Rochelle is survived by her husband of 55 years, Hershall, daughters Monica (David) Brown, Denise Norred (Nicki Granger), Deanna (Todd) Eiland, Melissa (Casey) Smith; grandchildren, Margaret Ann & Joseph Eiland, Hershall, Mayme and Griggs Smith; sister, June Ellen Thomas; brother, Ellis (Melinda) Mansour; sister-in-law, Michelle Mansour, many nieces and nephews, a large loving family and many wonderful friends.
