Rocco “Rock” Lapenta, 99, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was the husband of the late Mary Gallicchio Lapenta. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Julia and Theodore Lapenta. He was predeceased by his first wife Maryann Rocco Lapenta, his sister Eleanor Pinto, and his brother, Rev. Joseph Lapenta. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Lucy Horrigan, his brother-in-law Dan Gallicchio, and many other dearly loved relatives. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, an avid Yankees fan, and a member of Saint Mary’s Church. He leaves his son, Joseph Lapenta and his wife Kathy, a grandson Ross Lapenta, a daughter Maryann Rocco, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the special people who were an important part of his life: his niece Karen Gallicchio, Louann Vassallo, Lesley Morgan, Danny and Karen Gallicchio, Johnny and Michelle Gallicchio, Donna and Victor Fontana, Debbie Durity, his friend Walter, and his neighbors Sue and Eileen. He is also grateful to Judy and Margaret for bringing him communion. He will especially miss his buddy “Jack”. Many thanks to the amazing staff at Jefferson House for the care they provided.
