Rocco “Rocky” Vetro, 87, of Quakertown, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. He was the loving husband of Martha (Schlegel) Vetro for 45 years. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Bruno and Rosaria (Fornino) Vetro. Rocky served with the US Army during the Korean War. For 30 years he served as Lieutenant with the FDNY Ten House, the fire department that was among the hardest hit on 9/11, which was a few years after he retired. Even at his advanced age he remained on the phone for hours that day, desiring to go back and offer what help he could. Rocky hardly ever found spare time, but when he did he enjoyed golfing. Most of his time was spent either helping his family or being Mr. Fix-It. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and could do anything from electric work to fixing cars to building frames for houses, and he had a full shop in his basement. He was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, Quakertown. Surviving with his wife Martha are his sons: Rocco Vetro and Gary Vetro, wife Stacie, all of Quakertown; grandchildren: Rocco Philip, Wyatt Alexander and Ashton; and his brother-in-law, Andrew Schlegel, wife Caroline, of Northport, Long Island.
