Roberta C. Holmes was born September 7, 1918 in Rowland, NC to the late John and Leola Oxendine Chavis. She departed this life on August 23, 2007. She was educated in the public schools of Robeson County. She was joined in matrimony to the late Rudolph Holmes on September 7, 1941 in Dillon , SC. Roberta was licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of New York where she received a certificate of appreciation and was awarded for 30 years of outstanding dedicated service to the Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York City Health and Hospital Corporation. Roberta was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for many years. To cherish her memories are three sisters; Diane DeLoatch (Leon) of New Port News, VA, Joan Stafford (Donald) of Highpoint, NC, and Willnette Moulden (Vinson) of Cumberland , VA; two sisters-in-law, Gertie Lee Hodges of New York, NY , Roberta Holmes of Fayetteville, NC; several nieces, nephews and friends.
