Robert William “Bob” Maus, 77, of Houston, TX, formerly of Tennessee, Georgia and Chicagoland, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

Mr. Maus was born May 6, 1942 in Chicago to Rodney and Dorothy (Bohlman) Maus. He was a graduate of Evergreen Park Community High School, Class of 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.Mr. Maus had many employment and entrepreneurial endeavors through the years. He was an excellent bartender.

He worked for Service Master and later owned and operated his own commercial cleaning business. He was a professional driver for most of his life, working as a limousine chauffeur in the Chicago area and later as a courier in Chicago and Atlanta. He also owned and operated Georgia Mountain Tubing on the Chattahoochee River, Maus Haus Snack Shop and the Mountain Tourister newspaper all in Helen, GA.

He was talented, creative and had many interests, but his greatest love was boating and anything nautical. He enjoyed collecting and had a fondness for antique shops and flea markets. He was raised Pentecostal. His faith was very important to him and he enjoyed sharing his faith with others.

He was also an excellent storyteller, sharing with anyone who cared to listen, stories of his life’s adventures. These included, but were definitely not limited to, his time in the Philippines, his time as chauffeur for ABC 7 Chicago and his famous passengers, including Oprah Winfrey or his love of his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include five children, Randall Maus and his wife, Jennifer of Brazoria, TX, Sheryl Malek and her husband, Dennis of Crosby, TX, Jason Maus and his wife, Jonda of Peru, IL, Stephanie Barnard of Ellijay, GA and Adam Bright and his wife, Brittany of Port Richie, FL; eight grandchildren, Travis and Kayla Malek, Daniel and Logan Maus, Jack and Lucy Maus and Brittany Barnard and Bradley Darsey; two brothers, Larry Maus and his wife, Judy of Merritt Island, FL and Donald Maus of Lisbon, IA; several nieces; a nephew and numerous cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents.
