Robert “Bob” Wayne Bates 89, resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at his residence at Morningstar Senior Living.
He was born January 2, 1928 to Harry and Bertha Bates in Flandreau, SD. He lost his father at a very young age which left his mother to raise four young children on her own.
Bob lived in Flandreau and Sioux Falls, SD. He attended the University of Idaho majoring in Forestry. He interrupted college to join the Army and served as a Military Policeman in the Army of Occupation in Japan following WW II. After graduation he accepted a position as Junior Ranger for the U.S.
