Robert (Bob) Watson, 86, of Algona, IA passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. He suffered from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Bob, the son of Robert T. and Mae Watson, was born on March 23, 1934 in Iowa City, IA. His father was a Master Certified Chrysler Technician for 44-years. He worked at a local Chrysler Dealership in Fairfield, Iowa. His mother was a Homemaker. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1952 and went on to Parson’s College earning a degree in Interior Design. While in college, Bob met the forever love of his life, Patricia Hanify. They were united in marriage on December 26, 1953. They recently celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary. They moved to Algona, IA in 1959 where Bob went to work for Read’s Furniture. Bob later formed a partnership creating Read’s Furniture & Watson Interiors. This was North Iowa’s premier provider of high quality furnishings and interior design services. His passion for color and interior design allowed Bob to showcase his work in hundreds of homes across Northwest Iowa. Bob joined the Catholic Church and was devoted to his faith. He looked forward to seating parishioners while volunteering on Sunday’s as an usher at St. Celelia’s Catholic Church. He loved to watch Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. He loved to barbeque with family, neighbors, and friends. He enjoyed remodeling, golfing, and grandkids. After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling to visit family in Southern Iowa and Oregon. Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia Watson of Algona; son, Rick Watson of McMinnville, OR; daughter, Tricia Carlson and husband Steve of Algona; grandson, Brandon Bjustrom and wife Kelli Jo of Mount Ayr, IA; granddaughter Claire Watson of McMinnville, OR; great-grandchildren Ambraya and Londyn Bjustrom of Mount Ayr, IA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. and Mae Watson of Algona, his son; Robert A. Watson of Ankeny, IA.
