Robert W. Kunze, age 90, of Manchester,NJ, died on Tuesday at the Green Acres Manor in Toms River. Robert was born in Verona, and lived in West Orange most of his life, moving to Lavallette after his retirement 30 yrs ago, residing in Manchester this past two years. Robert served proudly in the Army Air Corps in WW2, as a airplane mechanic in England & France and during the European Theatre D-Day Invasion, and was a member of the American Legion in West Orange.
He began is education at the Newark College of Engineering , ultimately graduating from Rutgers University in 1955. Robert was a manager of the building & engineering departments at New Jersey Bell Telephone with 35 years service, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A avid car enthusiast, Robert restored several antique Ford cars, the 1916 Model T Depot Hack being his favorite. Bob was a member of the Ocean Co. Vintage Car Club, the Pineland Antique Engine Association, and the Model T Ford Club of America. Robert is survived by his wife Lois Clark Kunze of 68 years, two sons, Richard and his wife Michele of Bayville, Robert and his wife Cindy of Manchester, and two grandsons, Andrew and his wife Sue & great – grandson Travis of Little Egg Harbor, and Kristopher of Long Island.
