Bob was born July 18, 1924 at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, the eldest son of John Lyle and Lyla Mae Carrie Campbell Hunt. At the age of four, the family moved to a farm four miles north of Glenwood, IA. Bob attended a one-room schoolhouse, West Liberty #1, thru the eighth grade and then attended Glenwood, IA high school, graduating with the class of 1941. The following summer he traveled to Portland, OR where he worked one year at the Oregon Shipyards as a carpenter building Liberty ships. Subject to being called up in World War II draft; on May 21, 1943 he returned to Glenwood and entered the Army Air Corps. Bob served his country until January 4, 1946, including an assignment as a radar mechanic in the 9th Bomb Group, a B-29 Squadron stationed at Tinian, Marianas Islands in the Pacific. On September 1, 1946, he married Lila L. Johnson, Council Bluffs, IA, where they lived until July 1957 when the family moved to Denver, CO. Bob worked for Sears Roebuck & Co.

Bob’s hobbies included golf, square dancing and he was a member of the Columbine Genealogy and Historical Society, Littleton, CO. Bob and his wife of 53 years, Lila, traveled the mid-west states and as far east as West Virginia doing research on the Hunt, Johnson, Campbell and Miller families. He also served as a volunteer at the Littleton hospital from 1990 until 2019.

His wife, mother and father preceded him in death. He is survived by his two sons Robert, Jr. of Littleton, CO, James G. and wife Janice, Cherry Hills Village, CO and daughter Elizabeth A. Rodgers, Castle Rock, CO, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also, a brother John Lyle Hunt, Fontana, WI.
