Robert (Bob) V. Stenback, 88, of Freeport, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born July 24, 1922 in Omaha, Nebraska he was the son of Urho Fred and Sara Ida (Denny) Stenback.
He married Lena K. Kerkhoff December 27, 1941 in Florence Station. Robert was an electrician for 6 years with the Henny Motor Company and worked with Local Union 364 in Rockford until his retirement in 1986.
Robert was a veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant prior to his being wounded. His memberships included Florence United Methodist Church, Golden K. Kiwanis Club where he is a past president, Freeport VFW, Freeport DAV, American legion, Masonic Evergreen Lodge. Bob was also a Stephenson County Volunteer of the Year recipient.
Surviving are his wife, Lena of Freeport; 2 sons, Jack Robert (Gloria) Stenback of Kingman, AZ and Randall Keith (Joyce) Stenback of German Valley; 1 daughter, Debra Ann Stenback of Freeport; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; Brother-in-law, Fred Kerkhoff; and Sister-in-law Lillian Kerkhoff both of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Marcia Ellen and 3 brothers.
