Robert E. “Bob” Shumate,88, of Tuson, AZ,  formerly of Moberly, Missouri died on May 12, 2016 at the Tucson Veterans Hospice Center in Tucson, Arizona.  He was born on January 26, 1928; the son of  Lawrence M. and Elizabeth R. McGee Shumate in Moberly.

Robert graduated from Conception Seminary High School, Conception, Missouri in May of 1945 and enlisted in the United States Navy in March of 1946.  He received an Honorable discharge in January of 1948.  In January of 1952 Mr. Shumate became an employee of Mechanics Bank in Moberly and retired as Vice President of Operations in April of 1985.

Robert married Glenna M. Richardson on September 3rd, 1966 in Moberly and she preceded him in death on May 12, 1985.  He was also preceded in death by; his parents, a sister Katie Smith, many aunts and uncles.

Bob was a life-long member of St. Pius X Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and various other community organizations. He played in the Ban Johnson league after graduating high school. He had a passion for Cardinal Baseball, Missouri Football and Greyhound Basketball; and loved to bowl, fish and play golf.

Robert is survived by a brother-in-law, Von Smith, Four nieces, Susan Solomon, Janet & Tom Fannin, Patty & Dave Miller all of Moberly; Kathy & Matt Winkel of Wilmington, NC.  Also surviving is his step-daughter, Micki & Mike Burnham of Tucson, AR; two step-grandchildren, Stacey Milici and Jeffrey Burnham, and two great grandchildren, cousins, great nieces, nephews, and many friends.
