Robert L. “Rod” Hester was born in Denver,Colorado on October 20, 1946.  His parents were Edward and Esther Hester, deceased; stepmother Carolee Hester, deceased.  Rod is survived by his two brothers Don (Lonnie) and Ed (Diana) and brother in law Pete (Sally) and special friends Barbie Bernhard and Jessica Chandler.    He also had many nieces and nephews that were an important part of Rod’s life.  Rod graduated from East High School in 1964.  He went to college at Ft. Lewis in Durango and graduated from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins with a degree in accounting.  He also was a CPA. Rod worked in the oil business traveling worldwide to Indonesia and other countries before being employed at Wolff Energy where he worked for 40 years.  He also was a tax man for many friends and relatives.

Rod began riding motorcycles at the age of 14 and continued for the next 61 years riding various types of bikes and putting 150,000 miles on his Harley Davidson.  He was married to Barbie Black for almost 40 years.  They shared the love of motorcycles, the open road and the Colorado Mountains.  They went on many trips to Sturgis and rallies.  The highlight of their rides was the Children’s Hospital Christmas toy run bringing gifts to all the children.  Rod also loved his pool league and playing dice poker with many friends.
