Robert (Bob) Jacobshagen was born on September 29, 1931, in Helper, Utah to Ralph and Grace Jacobshagen. He passed away on October 26, 2021, at Joni Fair Hospice in Pueblo, Colorado.

Bob had two older sisters Mary and Dorothy, and a younger brother Gordon. Bob’s father, Ralph died when he was ten years old. A few years later his mom married Edward (Ed) Bowen, who was a good husband, stepfather, and eventual grandfather. Bob is survived by his sister-in-law, Kay Bowen. His immediate family preceded him in death.

Bob, who was interchangeably called Jake, was a lifelong student and athlete. After finishing college, he was drafted into the Army in 1954 and served two years before beginning his career as an educator. In 1956 Bob became a science teacher and a coach, mainly in small northeastern Colorado towns. Early in his teaching career, he attended Western State in Gunnison to earn his master’s degree in education administration where he met Joan (Jody) Tinsley in the summer of 1959.

Bob and Jody’s first child Michael (Mike) was born in 1960 followed by their daughter Jill in 1962. Bob enjoyed his time as a coach and a teacher, and he also built his family a house. At the age of forty, Bob decided he wanted to become a dentist. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for four years using the G.I. Bill to help pay the way. Jody taught elementary school in Omaha while Bob studied.

During the summer of 1976, Bob and his family moved to Canon City, where Bob opened a dental practice. Eventually, Bob shared an office with Dr. John Kearny, who became a lifelong friend. After fifteen years as a private dentist, Bob sold his practice and took a job as a dentist at the Department of Corrections.

Besides being a good family man, teacher, coach, and dentist, Bob was a good friend to many. He loved to golf and had several golfing partners throughout his years at Shadow Hills Golf Course and other courses. Furthermore, he was a consummate dog lover. He also served as city councilman for two terms, and on the Fremont Sanitation Board for twenty years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jody; children, Mike (Jackey) Jacobshagen, and Jill (Jeff) Guffey; three grandsons, Joey Jacobshagen, JJ Guffey, and Tom Guffey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
