Robert L. Pointer, 81, of Bloomington, died on Wednesday at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on July 19, 1928 in Franklin, Indiana to Archie and Matilda (Kinnard) Pointer. He was a retired welder from Westinghouse and after retirement he worked for Rural Transit and Kroger.
Robert was an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War, and, a member of Little Union Baptist Church and also sang in the Landmarks and Gospel Jets Quartets.
Survivors include his wife Betty (Richardson) Pointer of Bloomington, daughter Kathy Pointer (Sam Thompson), three sons, Alan Pointer (Patty), Rick Pointer (Tina Flynn) both of Bloomington, and Chris Pointer (Suzi) of Spencer. He is also survived by one sister Dolly Fox of Nashville, 7 grandchildren Kayla Pointer, Ashley Pointer, Chance Pointer, Victoria Pointer, Kerri Perelmuter, Grace Comerford, and Philip Comerford, three great grandchildren Eli Perelmuter, Max Comerford, and Emma Comerford and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister Ruby Tankersley.
