Robert F. Papineau1922-2018 Robert Papineau, 96, of Ottawa, passed away in his sleep on Friday, April 13, 2018 in his home. Robert was born on February 24, 1922 in Paxton, Illinois to Frank and Marie (Hacker) Papineau. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and served as a combat medic in the 6th Division of the 63rd Infantry in the South Pacific. Bob married Gladys M. Cavanaugh on May 18th, 1946 in Ottawa.

He worked at the Libbey-Owens Ford for 37 years until his retirement in 1987, to care for Gladys. Gladys, the love of his life preceded him in death on November 26, 1993. Bob was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Glassworkers Local 19, American Legion Post 33, and the V.F.W. Among other things, Bob maintained a zest for life and a sense of humor.

He enjoyed driving and showing his 1953 MG-TD and his fellowship with the LaSalle County Cruisers. He is survived by his two sons, Don (Marlene)Papineau of Las Cruces, NM and Jon (Marla) Papineau of Ottawa, three grandchildren Robin (Josh) Morton, of Souix Falls, SD, Beth (Sean) Dougherty, of Charlotte, NC, and Staff Sgt. Josh (Kelly) Papineau, of Cooper Cove, TX, and three great-grandchildren.
