Robert P. Yoxtheimer age 86 of Ashland, OH, passed away Friday, May 20,
2011, at his residence. On March 3, 1925, in Toledo, OH, Mr. Yoxtheimer was
born to Milo F. and Leora (Peirce) Yoxtheimer. He had been a resident of
Ashland Co. the past 30 years, but had grew up Wellington, OH. He retired as
a civil service employee of 30 years with the Dept. of Defense and the
Social Security Administration. Mr. Yoxtheimer also taught biology and
coached at Madison High School in Mansfield, OH, and University Heights
Junior High in Riverside, CA. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was
with the Honor Guard for Winston Churchill’s daughter at the Yalta
Conference. Mr. Yoxtheimer played semi-pro baseball as a catcher for the St.
Louis Cardinals and was an avid golfer and bowler. His memberships include
the First Christian Church, Ashland University Sports Hall of Fame,the
Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet
Singing in America, and the Mansfield Barber Shop Chorus. On August 24,
1952, Mr. Yoxtheimer married Gaynor Burns who survives. Also surviving are a
daughter and son-in-law: Lynn and Ralph Eib of Spring Grove, PA; a son,
James Yoxtheimer of Hillsboro, OH; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Mr. Yoxtheimer was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis
Perkins.
