Robert Murray, 80 of Fellowsville, Stone Hollow Rd, went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence with family by his side. He was born June 29, 1934 in Marquess, son of the late Charles A and Zora Knotts Murray. Robert graduated from Fellowsville High School in 1952. He worked for Sterling Faucet Company in Reedsville and Morgantown for nearly 40 years where he was a Forman. Robert was a very active member of Mount Israel United Methodist Church nearly all of his life. He was past Vice-Superintendent and Trustee of the Church. Robert was President of the Mount Israel Cemetery which he served well and accomplished many projects for the cemetery. He also was one of the Chief Carpenters Building the Fellowships Hall at Mount Israel. Robert was a Veteran and served his country with pride in the US Army. Robert and Waneta bought the Murray farm and built their home and lived there ever since. He loved farming, hunting, helping neighbors and his family especially his five wonderful grandchildren. Robert is survived by his loving devoted wife of 54 years, Waneta Auvil Murray, whom he married on June 24, 1960; also two wonderful children and spouses, one daughter, Katharine Murray Shaffer and husband, John, one son, David L Murray and wife Cheryl Chambers Murray, five adorable grandchildren, Charity Shaffer Moore and husband Matthew Moore, Noah Shaffer, Anita Murray, Mark Murray and Hannah Murray all of Marquess; one great-grandson, Kayden Murray, one sister, Bonnie Brewer, Morgantown, two sister-in-laws, Ruth Murray and Myrl Murray both of Marquess; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by four brothers, Freeman Murray Sr, Lester Murray, Walter Murray and William “Bill” Murray; five sisters, Beatrice Murray, Nellie Murray, Virginia Huffman, Winona Cathell and Eldora Murray; three brother-in-laws, Gordon Cathell, Obed Brewer and Frank Huffman; two sister-in-laws, Anna Mae Funk Murray and Ruth Swiger Murray. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
