Robert Michael “Mike” Malloy, 68, of Heber Springs, Arkansas , passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones at his home.

Mike was born in Bastrop, LA on August 27, 1946, to Robert F. and Vivian McKimmey Malloy of Crossett, AR.  He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Betty Lynn McCaughan Malloy of Heber Springs, one son, Mason Malloy (Alison) of Heber Springs; two grandsons, Brian Malloy (Tianne) of Heber Springs, AR; and Michael Cole Malloy of Conway, AR; a step grandson, Logan Pedron of Texarkana, TX; a step granddaughter, Brinkley Pedron of Texarkana, AR;  one great grandson, Luke Allen Malloy of Heber Springs, AR., and a brother, Mark Malloy; and a sister, Melissa Wyatt.  Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas J. and Anna Kate Malloy; Eugene and Irma McKimmey; his parents, Robert and Vivian Malloy; and a son, Robert Matthew Malloy.

Mike grew up in Crossett, AR where he graduated from Crossett High School in 1964 and then attended the University of Arkansas. He worked in the paper industry for thirty-seven years with increasing roles and responsibilities, ending as Director of Domtar North America.

Throughout his life, Mike was passionate and competitive about work whether at his job or on a project at his home, deer camp, or lake house; each of which he always considered to be a labor of love.  He enjoyed the out of doors and shared his hunting and fishing experiences with his family and friends.

As the patriarch of his family, he cared for and provided well, by living and instructing in responsibility, honesty, hard work, and integrity before God and with his fellow man.  He was always willing to share his experience, strength, and hope with one who needed help.  His desire to have his family healthy and living close was a dream come true.

Mike will be remembered for his pearls of wisdom and his sage advice: “Just keep scratching at it”, “You take ownership when you have an investment of blood, sweat, and tears”, and “Deep within yourself is where you will find God.”

Known as Friend, Sweetheart, Dad, and Pa – Mike will truly be missed.  His family loves him and will forever.  We are grateful and rejoice in knowing he is healed, happy, and home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Services will be officiated by a family friend, Steve Williams of Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Allcare Pharmacy of Heber Springs for their compassion and genuine interest in Mike’s wellbeing; to the nurses of Arkansas Hospice, Conway and Chaplain Mike Yarman for their comfort and care of our loved one, Mike.  A special thank you to friends and CHS ’64 classmates who sent cards, letters, and prayers.  Your thoughtful expressions of love meant so much to Mike and Betty.
