Colebrook: Robert (Bud) Miner Rice, Jr., died onSaturday, October 18, 2008 at his home in Colebrook. Mr. Rice is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Rice-Mesec and son-in-law Donald Mesce of Hanover, NH and his granddaughter Alysia Marie Todd of Enfield, CT. Mr Rice was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Paula Holmes Rice and Daugher Robin Rice-Todd. Mr. Rice was born in Winsted, in 1923, the son ofRobert M. Rice Sr., and Gladys Davis Rice. Afterserving in the Army Air Force in the Pacific in World War II, Mr. Rice’s family moved to Colebrook, where he later raised his family and was active in local affairs, serving as a constable in Colebrook, being a founding member of the Forge Fire Department, serving as the regional representative for the Farmington River Wild and Scenic initiative, and being active in both Colebrook and Regional School #7 avid outdoorsman, Mr. Rice enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, ice and roller skating and skiing. Mr. Rice raced outboard motorboats for many years, was also a pilot and an accomplished craftsman and .
