Robert Leroy Bear, Sr. earned his wings on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Bob was born on August 2, 1952. He was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Tech high school in 1969.
Bob married Patricia Kinshaw while in high school and had their only son Robert Bear Jr. (Lisa) and a few years later would complete their family with twin girls, Susan Bear and Stephanie Bear of Des Moines.
Bob found himself on a different path later in life working construction and rebuilding cars. He took pride in every job he completed from installing windows to applying house siding for Iowa Lumber. He was the master in gardening and appeared to be the place to go if you ever needed a ripe tomato or cucumber.
Bob was a man of little words but enjoyed racing, hanging with his buddies in his garage and his cat, Penny.
Bob will be greatly missed, especially at holiday dinners where he was always the first to arrive to be sure he wasn’t late for seconds. His sister, Linda Hollister will miss his conversation and daily presence.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit & Anna Bear; ex-wife, Pat Bear and his great grandson, Cezar Raitt. He is survived by his three children and his sister, along with his brother, Richard Bear of Seymour; nephew, Fred Hollister; three grandchildren, Casie Raitt (Anthony), Jacob Bear-Mott, and Lucy Bear and two great grandchildren, Adrianna & Aj all of Des Moines.
