Robert Soverns, 88, of Anderson, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 25, 1932, in Anderson, the son of Doyle and Mary (Miller) Soverns. Bob was a simple man of gentle strength, who was a hero to his grandchildren. He never wasted words because he was content to sit and watch the life that he and Dorothy had made. Bob read his Bible, algebra text, or Masonic books daily. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, sudoku, jigsaw, and crossword puzzles, but most of all, holding his grandchildren. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors, having worked as a tool & die maker. Bob was a Past Master of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge #77.

He is survived by his children, Tim (Donna) Soverns, Cindy (Jeff) Currey, Tony (Laura) Soverns, and Janet Koons; sister, Marvella Hiles; brothers, Wayne Soverns, Charles Soverns, and John Soverns; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Soverns; and his sister, Betty Gunter.
