Burlington – Robert L. Weber, 90, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb 1, after a brief stay with Acacia Hospice at the Masonic Home of NJ. Bob was born in Elizabeth, NJ, and raised in Roselle Park, NJ, where he was active in many sports in high school. He met Marion Finch at Watson-Stillman Co., in Roselle, and in a class at Union Junior College in 1946, and they were married a year later in Cranford, NJ, where they remained active members of the Cranford United Methodist Church until they retired to North Carolina in 1989.

For most of his career, Bob worked in machine shop tools service and sales, but switched to life insurance sales in 1971 until his retirement in 1985. Bob participated avidly and competitively in many sports, including football, baseball, tennis, and bowling, but he spent most of his later years playing golf until 2013, attaining the impressive feat of “golfing his age” on 18 holes for many years. He also enjoyed acting in community theater. In 2013 Bob celebrated 59 years as Master Mason with Loyalty Lodge #33, F.&A.M. Bob always knew what he wanted–whether it was marrying Marion (he asked three times) or moving into the Masonic Home of New Jersey in 2005 which he had planned since his mother stayed there.

He lived life on his own terms. He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marion; his parents, Anna Emilie Weber and Leo Anton Weber; his brother Richard C. Weber; and sisters-in-law Dora Holtje and Margaret Jensen. Devoted and loving father, Bob is survived by children Keith Robert Weber, Peggy Ann (“Penney”) De Pas, and James Charles Weber; daughters-in-law Maxine Terner and Patricia Deeney; granddaughters Erin Skurdal and Arielle De Pas; grandson-in-law Andrew Skurdal; and great-grandson Caleb Skurdal and brother in-law David Finch.
