Robert L. Prater, 84, Anderson, died July 2, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Seton Specialty Hospital .
He was born May 15, 1927 in Anderson. He lived in Anderson all his life and retired from Delco-Remy Division of General Motors after 38 1/2 years of service. Robert served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of The Brethren and a longtime member of The Benevolent Order of Elks #209.
He is survived by his wife whom he married June 5, 1948, Vivian “Joan” Bell Prater of Anderson. Children; Linda husband, Gerald Jones of Anderson, Michael wife, Debra Prater of Cookeville, Tennessee and David wife, Teresa Prater of Noblesville. Seven grandchildren; Kevin Jones, Amy Jones, Kelly husband, Brad Douglas all of Anderson. Michael Prater II and Kimberly husband, Jamie Chaffin of Cookeville, Tennessee. Nicole Prater and Kristin Prater of Roseburg Oregon and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; William H. & Neoma E. Madara Prater.
