Robert passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at The Carriage House of Bay City. Robert was born on Kline’s Farm in December of 1930 to the late John and Lula Belle (Leavitt) Kline. He graduated from Central High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army in the 79th Engineering Construction Battalion. He was later called back for the Korean War and was part of the service battery in the 987 Armored Field Artillery Battalion receiving the Korean Service Metal with two Bronze Service Stars. He then was in the Army Reserves 4-38 field artillery for forty years. Robert married the former Beverly Jean McCann and she preceded him in death. Robert worked for Hirschfields and was a welder at the Bay City Chevrolet Plant for over 40 years. Bob was able to repair just about anything. Throughout his adult life he enrolled in classes which included machine repair, electronics, wiring and computers at the Bay Arenac Skill Center, Great Lakes Charter Training and Delta College. His hazardous waste operations and emergency response certification courses were through Michigan State University, School of Labor and Industrial Relations. Robert was quick witted, enjoyed spending time with his family and lived life his own way. He loved all of the family pets and they loved him. He enjoyed working out and running and encouraged others to do the same.

Robert is survived by his children, Lenore (Harry) McGee, Robert (Sheila Shaw) Kline and Renee (Ron) Kline-Garstka; grandchildren, Devin, Meagan and Caitlin McGee; nieces and nephews and retired coffee buddies at Bay City Chevy. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Archie and John (Jack) Kline; sisters-in-law, Irene Kline Cavanaugh and Norma Kline; sisters, Leona Kline Toland and Mildred Kline Gaiser; brothers-in-law, William Toland and Lloyd Gaiser; nephews, L. Cpl. Robert Kline and John Toland.
