Robert Lee Brune, 81, of Jacksonville, IL died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence.
He was born June 24, 1927 in Jacksonville; the son of Herman L. and Mabel Pechloeffel Brune. He married Marie Leake on March 21, 1948 and she survives. To this marriage were three sons, Robert Allen Brune (wife, Debora Lynn) of Jacksonville, David Lee Brune (wife, Cheryl Kay) of Murrayville, and Dr. Daniel Herman Brune (wife, Marsha Lea) of Peoria; ten grandchildren, Susan Eickhoff CPA, Dr. Jessica Walk, Ptl. Olivia Brune, David Emory Brune, Alisha Brune, Max Brune, Nitasha Williams, Daniel Robert Brune, Lee Michael Brune, and Rachel Brune; and seven great grandchildren, Megan Eickhoff, Corban Walk, Wyatt Brune, Ziyan Williams, Hannah Eickhoff, Isaac Walk, and Asa Williams. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harland and Byron Brune.
Mr. Brune served with the US Army during WW II and joined the Jacksonville Police Department in 1954 where he served 25 years, retiring in 1979 as captain and chief of detectives in charge of the investigative division. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Policemenâ??s Benevolent and Protective Association. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and carpentry.
