Robert Kirsch, age 85, of Bode, Iowa died on Friday May 2, 2014 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. Robert Eugene Kirsch, the son of Matt and Margaret Reding Kirsch, was born on August 22, 1928 in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On July 23, 1958 Robert was united in marriage with Edna Bormann at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He farmed all of his life in the St. Joseph area. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and served on the Humboldt County REC Board for 30 years. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, classic tractors, mowing and his cat. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, telling jokes and was known for his distinguished laugh. Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his wife of 55 years, Edna; children, Allan (Pam) Kirsch of Dakota City, Karen (Jeff) Berte of Humboldt, Janet (Alvin) Berte of Livermore, Patti (Jim) Carroll of LuVerne, Kevin Kirsch of Bode, Diane (Richard) Capesius of Algona and Linda (Tom) Becker of Prior Lake, MN; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathryn and her husband Sam Tornabane, along with his mother and father-in law, Lorenz and Julia Bormann.
