Robert Kevin Tisdall, age 83, formerly of Norwalk, died on Saturday October 15, 2011 at his home. Born in Holyoke, MA, the son of the late James and Rose (Walsh) Tisdall, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence Perry Wardell Tisdall.
For 40 years, Mr. Tisdall worked for Toplis and Harding, Inc., insurance adjusters and surveyors, now operating as VRS VeriClaim. He retired as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director, Manager of the New York Office, and Director in charge of The Marine Business for the Corporation. He was Director of Lloyd’s Agency in New York for many years. Mr. Tisdall was a member of the Wall Street Club, serving as member and President of its Board of Governors. He was a non-lawyer member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and served on its Executive Committee. He also was a member of many Insurance business organizations in the United States, Canada and London. The Recovery Forum named him Insurance Man of the Year in 1985.
A graduate of Deerfield Academy and Amherst College, he served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Artillery.
He is survived by his son Kevin Tisdall and his wife Vera of Milford, and two daughters: Tracey Tisdall Delfiner and her husband Michael of Radnor, PA, and Katherine Tisdall Harris Wells and her husband John of Bend, OR, and 3 cherished grandchildren: Benjamin Delfiner, Rebecca Delfiner and Robert Harris.
