Robert Joseph Burda of Hebron, NE the son of Rudolph and Margaret (Tepley) Burda was born April 16, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, NE. He departed this life Sunday October 10, 2010 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE at the age of 57 years after a courageous struggle with Cystic Fibrosis from the age of 3 years.

Bob grew up in the Cedar Rapids area, graduating from Spalding High School with the class of 1971. Bob married Patricia Cox February 25, 1973 at the Church of the Plains, Edgar, NE. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

Bob was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of three. He wasn’t expected to live to be a teenager,
but managed until he was 44 years old when in 1997 Bob received a double lung transplant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Bob loved to hunt and fish when his health permitted. He believed in working and always tried to get to work no matter how he felt. He liked making wine and home brew beer, he and his friends even entered some at the Nebraska State Fair and received second place. Every year he thought the family should have a real Christmas tree, and should pick it out themselves. Bob loved Christmas and all the trimmings, but most of all Bob loved his family especially baking cookies and banana bread with his grandchildren.

Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 1904 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Monica, Rita, and Linda Burda.

He is survived by, mother of the children Patricia (Burda) Davis, one son Ryan Burda of Hebron, NE, two daughters; Angie Kahler of Lincoln, NE, and Michelle Kapperman and husband Chris of Seward, NE, one brother Jim Burda of Jacksonville, FL, two sisters; Veronica Snoke of Lincoln, NE and Lisa Montgomery and husband Scott of Grand Island, NE, two granddaughters Kayli Tyler and Rebecca Burda, one grandson Connor Kapperman, other relatives and a host of friends.
