Robert ‘Bobby’ Gimmartino, 54, of Columbia, CT passed away on November 11, 2017 at home. Bobby was born to Alfred Gimmartino and Beverly Levesque on May 9, 1963 (Mother’s Day) in Hartford, CT.
Bobby moved from Hartford, CT to St. Johnsbury, Vermont in the late 70’s and then to Manchester, CT in 1981 where he met his lifelong love and was married in 1984.
At the age of 17 he began working as a laborer and was taught a trade in carpentry. His fearlessness and unwillingness to be outdone made him a natural. Bobby was always thankful for the opportunity he was given to learn a trade that made him feel like a productive part of society even though he didn’t complete high school. He had a love for cooking and feeding his family. His biggest joy was cooking eggs (yellow ones) and whipped potatoes for his granddaughter Aryjianna. Everyone knew Bobby as abrasive with a heart of gold. He loved and was proud of his children and made sure he told the people closest to him he loved them every day.
Bobby was predeceased by his sister Nina Tenney. He is survived by his love of 36 years, Karla Gimmartino (Hennings), his children Ricky Gimmartino (his best friend) and his fiancé Kylee Altvater, and Jamie Gimmartino and her significant other Hunter MacNamara. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Aiden White, Lilyan Scolaro, Aryjianna Fein and Ella Gimmartino, along with his sister Lisa Dumais, two nephews, Jason Tenney and Jacob Dumais as well as two nieces, Leigh Ann Isabella Baker-Olsen and Tabitha Dumais along with several great nieces and nephews. He grew up very close to his uncles, John Levesque and David Levesque, who were more brothers than Uncles. Since he was 17, Bobby was looked out for by his mother-in-law Florence Hennings. He enjoyed a good argument and she was always up for the challenge. He will be missed by many.
