Robert J. Sushka, 74 of Cumming, GA passed away on Friday, Aug. 21, 2020 from Covid-19.
Bob was born May 31, 1946 in Martins Ferry, OH to Ted L. Sushka and Betty Scotka Sushka.
He joined the Navy after graduating from Martins Ferry HS and was assigned to the USS Ajax (AR-6) stationed in Sasabo, Japan during Viet Nam where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Upon release from Active Duty he moved to Marietta, OH where he met and married, the love his life, Libby Cole.
Bob and Libby started their lives together in Marietta, Ohio, eventually making homes in also in Tennessee, and Georgia. Bob made many friends along the way and was involved in local Lions Clubs and American Legions, choosing to retire in Cumming, Georgia.
With retirement, came more golf, great times with old and new friends, motorcycle trips and time with his four grandsons and family. He traveled to China, cruised the Baltic’s and spent time in the Caribbean. There was always a beer close by and lots of laughter.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years; Children Karrie (Jim) Fuerst of Cumming and Tiffany (Joe) Popp of Buford; four grandchildren Ryan Fuerst, Evan Fuerst and twins Nicholas Popp and Andrew Popp; Brother Ted (Barbara) Sushka of Zionville, IL; Sister Shirley Sushka of Shadyside, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.
