Robert J. “Bob” Surowiec, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Elkhart. He was born February 28, 1931 in LaPorte to Stanley and Marie (Aikman) Surowiec.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Phyllis E. Surowiec of Elkhart; 1 son, Rodney Surowiec of LaPorte; 2 daughters, Debbie (James) Pratt of Elkhart and Kathy (Randy) Hoover of Charlotte, MI; 2 sisters, Sandy (Marion) Robinson of LaPorte and Susan Grice of Elkhart; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son, Michael Surowiec and 1 grandson, Chris Pratt.
Bob was a graduate of the Indiana School for the Deaf. He was employed with Williams Products for nearly 17 years and prior to his retirement was employed with Domore Office Furniture.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Bass Deaf Club and the Michiana Deaf Senior Citizen’s where he served as treasurer for 5 years.
Bob spent several years bowling on leagues at Country Club Lanes.
