Robert J. Schelton, 75, Anderson, died June 24, 2003 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana. He went home to be with the Lord, ,after a courageous battle with heart disease.. He was born April 4, 1928 in Anderson, Indiana, He was a lifelong Anderson resident. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1987 after 40 and 1/2 years in the Engineering/Drafting Department. He served his country in the US Air Force in Korea and Japan from 1952 to 1956. He attended East Side Church of God and the BYKOTA Sunday School class serving as secretary/treasurer. He worked with the Servant hood Saturday where he helped to build many ramps for the disabled. He also worked for Habitat for Humanity. He taught Power Squadron for four years. He served on the board of Hopewell for 30 years. He was a lifelong woodworker and loved helping people. He loved his family and his many friends. Bob was a dedicated husband, father and servant of the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Janet Keesling Schelton; two daughters, Kathryn & husband Nigel Parker of Anderson and Luanna Bates of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Parker and Elizabeth Parker both of Anderson, Jason Bates and Joshua Bates both of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Beverly Schelton Hudson of Anderson and Shirley Mock & husband Paul Black of Middletown; a brother, Gary & wife Trina Schelton of Picayune, Mississippi and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his son, Robert J. Schelton II, his father Robert J. Schelton, his mother Marjorie P. Shearer Brown, an infant brother Donald and beloved mentor Clifton Draggoo.
