Akron—Robert J Doerr, 81, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to William J and Helene (nee Brosch) Doerr.  He was a big brother to twin sisters Barbara and Kathleen. Robert joined the Air Force in 1961 and worked as an airplane mechanic until the end of his service in 1967. He relocated to the Akron area in 1967 with his employer, RCA , to work in their computer division. He met Kathleen in 1967 and they were married in 1968.  During this time he got his private pilot license and received his multiple engine rating.  With this knowledge, he became a commercial pilot flight instructor and taught flying from 1969 to 1987.  He also volunteered his time with the Civil Air Patrol as a search pilot and ground rescue for fifteen years. He was a member of the International Order of Foresters.  He loved to sing with Mother Mary Music Makers, the contemporary choir at Immaculate Conception Church where with his wife was a long time, devoted parishoner.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen.  He is survived by loving wife of fifty-five years, Kathleen “Bernie” Doerr, sister, Barbara Doerr-Le and husband, Huynh Le, niece, Aimee Le and nephew Randall Le, uncle, Ernest F Brosch, close friends, Valerie and Floyd Marshall, Roger Hoover and high school friend Jill.
