 Robert J. “Bob” Thomas

Essexville, Michigan

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 on a trip of a life time in Las Vegas, with his wife by his side. He was born in Saratoga, New York on September 7, 1950 to the late Elvry and Gladys Thomas. Bob graduated from Troy High School in New York and he was in the class of 1968. He worked for several years at Kroger’s as a cashier where established many friendship and touched a lot peoples life’s thru his job and all so worked at Hollywood Video and all his co-workers and customers nick named him “Hollywood Bob”

Bob had a great love for music and was talented musician, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and collecting guns, NASCAR, but most of all Bob’s greatest love was spending time with his family. Bob will be missed by the entire community because  he had an ability to connect with anybody, he had an amazing ability to talk to anyone, had a personality to light up a room and you could find him daily in the Tim Horton’s and Meijer Store both in Essexville connecting with people.  It is just a proven fact by the person Bob was from the outpouring of the community to step forward to help out financially to bring Bob back home so they could say good bye and celebrate his life. Without the communities support none of this would be possible and we thank you all for the love and support that we have already received. Bob courageously served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.

Left behind to cherish Bob’s memories is his wife and best friend the former Glenda Keane whom he married August 27, 1998; his children, Brian (Shelley) Denue, Donald (Lisa) Denue, Lorra Thomas and Hughlyn (Vicente) Rosario his step daughter, Debra (James) Cain; grandchildren, Alisha, Joseph, Erika, Austin, Collin, Shay and Christina; one great granddaughter, Lilly; his sisters and brother, Nancy, Ken and Barb. After a long separation he will be reunited in heaven with his parents, son Jesse; brothers, Skip, Clark and Larry.
