Doud, Robert J., Sr. (“Bob”) Passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015. Robert was born in Kalamazoo, MI on March 14, 1932, the son of Claude D. and Mabel P. Doud. He was a lifelong resident of Comstock. Robert was best known for his 55 years of service to the Comstock Fire Department, where he served in every position from firefighter to Assistant Fire Chief. He also brought two of his sons into the department: the late Robert, Jr., who served as Deputy Chief, and Randall Doud, who still serves as Captain.

Robert was Postmaster of the Comstock Post Office for 27 years and was a national vice president of the National League of Postmasters. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving overseas and attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 6252 and was named an All-American Commander of the post in 1980. He served on many community boards. He was President of the Comstock Board of Education and a member of the Comstock Zoning Board of Appeals. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Student Parish in Kalamazoo.

Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert, Jr. and spouse, Sue. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol (Nies) Doud, and by his children and their spouses: Ronald (Kathy), Rick (Loni), Deborah Doud Corbeil (Paul), and Randall (Janet) and many beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Irish. The family would like to thank the staff at the Laurel’s of Galesburg for their loving care and support.
