Robert Hovermale, 84, of Anderson, passed away on December 30, 2012 at Saint John’s Health System Anderson, IN.

He was born on November 4, 1928 in Danville, Indiana. Robert graduated from Danville High School and Indiana State University; he also earned his Master’s Degree from Arizona State University. Robert was an educator for 35 years, taught 9 years and served as a principal for 26 years. He retired as principal in 1987 from Bibich Elementary in Dyer, Indiana. He was a member of the Anderson Noon Lions Club, a volunteer Red Coat at Community Hospital, and a member of the National Elementary Principal’s Association. He served as president of the Indiana Association of Elementary School Principals District 1 in 1982-1983.

Robert is survived by his loving spouse whom he married August 26, 1950 in Anderson, Priscilla Pittenger Hovermale. He is also survived by his children; Ann E. Lindon Craig of Muncie, and Dr. Todd R. Joan Hovermale of Anderson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex Craig, Jincy Ryan Moore, Zachary Laura Hovermale, and great-grandchild Evan Hovermale. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Gladys Jackson Hovermale, and a sister, Mary Jane Stall.
