Robert (Bob) Heiler Nugent, age 96, of Manassas, Virginia passed away peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. Bob was born on February 24, 1921 in Utica, New York the son of the late Francis E. and Mary (Heiler) Nugent. He was a World War II US Army veteran who served with the 293rd. Joint Assault Signal Company. After the war, he graduated from Syracuse University and moved to Virginia to pursue his career as a civil engineer for the U.S. Geological Survey. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Bull Run Carvers. Bob had deep sense of family and faith that carried him through life. He especially enjoyed fishing and wood carving, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family. Bob was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life Trudy (Malloy) Nugent and his daughter, Mary Weisflock, and his son, Robert Nugent, Jr. Bob leaves behind many who will celebrate his presence in their lives, including his children, Clare Nugent and wife Sheree of Manassas, VA, Daniel Nugent and wife Evelyn of Marble Falls, TX, Kathy Nugent and wife Cindy of Fairfax, VA, Elizabeth Richards and husband Douglas of Leesburg, VA, Dorothy Long of Chambersburg, PA, Roberta Cooper and husband Dan of Leesburg, VA; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
