Robert G. Carroll, 89, of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Jacquelyn (Keenan) Carroll for almost 50 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Daniel and Helen (Flanagan) Carroll, he was a Newington resident for the past 48 years and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and former member of the American Legion. Bob grew up in Windsor and graduated from John Fitch High School in 1943 and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Naval Air Corps during World War II. He was employed as an early Computer Programmer at the Hamilton Standard Co. and the Travelers Co. where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, loved art and reading and was especially devoted to his family. Along with his wife, he leaves his daughter Kathryn C. Lipka and her husband Michael of Wethersfield and two grandchildren, Matthew Keenan Lipka and Megan Carroll Lipka. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and James Carroll and his sister Marie Isherwood.
