Robert F. Ham, Sr., 67, of Meredosia, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born May 14, 1943, in Peoria, the son of Lester Irving and Frances Mayes Ham. He married Irene Blair on Dec. 30, 1971, in Meredosia and she survives.

He is also survived by four children, Sheryl (Morgan) Sayle of Willoughby, OH, Steven (Maria) Boss of Antioch, CA, Robert F. (Jennifer) Ham, Jr. of Fowler and Sheila Ham of Clayton; seven grandchildren, Maryann Sayle, Giovanni Boss, Alexis Boss, Jacob Ham, Zachariah Sullivan, Kirstin Sullivan and Benny Ham; two sisters, Pat Dougherty of Meredosia and Margaret Wrezenski of Centralia; one brother, Lester (Beverly) Ham of Meredosia; and best friend and honorary brother, Harold Hester of Meredosia. He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ruyle; and one sister, Peggy Howell.

Mr. Ham was a 1961 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. He worked as an electrician for many years at CIPS in Meredosia, retiring in 2003, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid Cubs fan. Robert was a devoted husband and loving father, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
