Robert Fulmer Corbett of Sandwich, MA left this Earth peacefully on May 7th at BID Plymouth Hospital, hand in hand with family. Born in Manhattan, NY on March 14, 1944, Robert moved to Plymouth in the 1950s with his mother and three siblings. He graduated from Plymouth High School in the class of 1964, advancing on to start a welding career at General Dynamics, where he constructed submarines. From there, Robert took on a prominent master welding position as a self-proclaimed “Master Manipulator of Molten Metal” in the Boilermakers Union, Local 29 in which he built power plants throughout the northeastern United States. Robert was a notoriously avid outdoorsman with a deep connection to fishing, hunting, boating, clamming, archery, and trapping. He had a profound type A meticulousness with any project or endeavor he took on, and was a “Dad joke” aficionado. Robert loved to travel. He journeyed across the United States with his young family in an Oldsmobile Delta 88 convertible, went on numerous cruises across the Caribbean, and explored the deep sea with chartered fishing expeditions. He also enjoyed being the captain at the helm of his Grady White from dock H out of Sandwich Marina. His most recent travels were to the timeshare he enjoyed each January with his wife, Sandra, in St. Maarten. Robert was a supreme home handyman with his many talents of welding, plumbing, construction, and demolition. Robert was the son of the late Warren S. Corbett, Jr. and his beloved mother, the late Doris C. Corbett. He is survived by two siblings, W. Jack Corbett of ID, and Joan C. DeMerchant of CT. He was predeceased in 1963 by his younger brother James “Jimmy” K., and in 2014 by his loving wife of 20 years, Sandra Lee (Olson) Corbett. Robert was formerly married to the mother of his children, Beverly R. (Johnson) Corbett-Bonvie of Longs, SC. He leaves behind his children: Robert D. Corbett of Plymouth, MA, Brett C. Corbett along with his wife, Nicole, and stepdaughter, Meghan, of Derby, VT, his daughter Sara J. Almeida and her husband Christopher of Plymouth, MA, as well as his stepdaughter Kimberly D. (Kruse) Kamke and her husband Michael of Oconto Falls, WI. Robert also says goodbye to his grandchildren: Lauren E. Corbett, Jaime L. Corbett, and Michael D. Corbett of ME, Solon C. Almeida and Beckett W. Almeida of Plymouth, MA, as well as his step-grandchildren Alex and Donovan Kamke of Oconto Falls, WI. He bids farewell to many nieces and nephews.
