Robert Eugene Merrill Sr., 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 26, 2013 at Brookdale at Willow Lake Indianapolis, IN.
He was born on June 25, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana and resided most of his life in Anderson. Robert graduated from Anderson High School 1949. He was a retired Electrician for General Motors. He served in the United States Navy Reserve for sixteen years. He was a member of the VFW post 266 and the Lions International for 20 years where he received several awards. He liked to spend time with his family, he enjoyed bowling and classical music.
Robert is survived by his loving spouse whom he married September 8, 1950, Carolyn Rensel Merrill, son, Robert “Bob” Patti Merrill Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, son, Timothy “Tim” Vickie Merrill of Amarillo, TX, daughter, Teresa Merrill of Anderson, IN; brothers-in-law, Jack Rensel and Jesse Faust; sister-in-law, Peggy Merrill; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Everett Merrill, brother, Richard A. Merrill, and sister, Phyllis Faust and one grandchild, Rick Wilkins.
