Robert Eugene Luff, 90, of Richfield, Idaho, died Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Serenity Transitional Care in Twin Falls, following a long battle with skin cancer.
Robert was born June 10, 1931 in Glasgow, Montana, to Ervin “Ike” and Ruby (Carter) Luff.
After attending school in Richfield, Robert entered the United Sates Army in 1954. He served at Ford Old, Fort Knox and then served a tour of duty in Meintz, Germany.
After the army, Robert returned to Idaho and began farming. He knew a Richfield girl, Mary Farnworth, from childhood, and they had a humorous incident at the bank where she worked when she accidentally shortchanged him. He joked with his aunt and uncle that he would have to marry her to get even. A courtship began, and he did! The two were married May 13, 1959 and enjoyed a 62-year marriage.
The couple adopted a daughter, Jean Carmen, in 1968. Robert and the family farmed and raised Holstein heifers for the dairy industry for many years, with Robert working growing hay and grain crops on his property just north of Richfield.
There wasn’t much spare time, but Robert enjoyed fishing for trout and boating when he could get out to Magic Reservoir.
Robert is survived by: his wife – Mary; daughter – Carmen and her husband Reed; brothers – Richard and Fred; and sisters – Dorothy and Donna and their spouses and families.
