DURHAM Mr. Robert Early Ladd, III., 68, of 2413 Shaw Road, died on Monday, February 18, . Ladd was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and retired after 35 years from GTE-Verizon. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He also was a member of the NRA and Redwood Ruritan Club. Bob was a big supporter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the El Shohva a Christian Jewish organization. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and had a passion for birds. Bob enjoyed Karate and was recently awarded his honorary black belt. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Robert E. Ladd, Jr. and Dalphine is survived by his wife, Patricia Ladd; his mother and step-father, Rhudell and R. H. Ballard; three daughters, Angela Ladd Smith (Rodney), Kristi Ladd-White (Erick) and Jennifer Ladd McBride (Jamie); two brothers, Barney Wayne Ladd (Linda) and Ricky Van Ladd (Sheila); one sister, Tena Ladd Pipkin; six grandchildren, Krystle Smith, Zakkary Smith, Kayley Rose Smith, Addison Grace McBride, Nidia McBride, Kristian McBride and one great-granddaughter, Kelsey Hawkins.
