Robert E. Willis age 85 of Ashland, OH., passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio. On April 6, 1926 in Mansfield, OH., Mr. Willis was born to the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Gumbert)Willis. He had been a resident of Ashland Co. all of his life retiring from the Ashland Fire Dept. as a firefighter and dispatcher. Mr. Willis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ashland American Legion Post #88 and the Ashland V.F.W. #1067. Formerly Mr. Willis’s memberships included the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, Am Vets and Ashland Volunteer Fire Co.
In 1963 Mr. Willis married Lenora Estep who preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by three daughter: Deborah Willis, Bobbie (Clark) Oswalt both of Ashland, and Caitlyn Hobson of Medina, OH.; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Mr. Willis was also preceded in death by a grandson, Trent in 1997 and a sister, Betty Mae.
