BAKERVILLE/NEW HARTFORD -DISTIN – Robert E. Distin, Sr., of Litchfield Turnpike, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007 after a long courageous battle with lung cancer for almost 5 years. He was the loving husband of Mona "Sandi" (Sprague) Distin for 23 years. Born on July 6, 1939 in New Britain, CT; the son of the late Burton Distin and Alice (Bittner) Distin. He was owner and operator of Bob’s Trucking Refuse Service for 45 years until his retirement in Nov. 2006. He was someone who was tireless and physically dedicated to all that he did. He helped his wife operate Lucky Acres Herb Farm. His hobbies included raising livestock for many years and he was also an avid gardener. In addition to his devoted wife, Sandi, he is survived by two sons, Robert E. Distin Jr. and his wife Cindy of Colebrook and Ronald M. Distin and his wife Johnna of North Canaan; three step-sons, Stephen Colpitts and his wife Charlene of Simsbury, Lincoln Colpitts and his wife Kim of Naugatuck and Raymond Markwas of Simsbury; two daughters, Terry Mooney of Winsted and Sabrina Aldrich and her husband Norman of Torrington; 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 2 step great granddaughters. He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Flora (Hull) Phillips.
