Robert Eugene Curtis, age 78, of Cassopolis, died suddenly of natural causes, Monday, February 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 14, 1936 in Cassopolis, Michigan to Loren and Ellen (Stewart) Curtis. He married China Bufkin. He later married Joan Mellinger who preceded him in death in 2010. He then married Juanita Eileen Mourning who survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Ellen Curtis; three sisters, Mary Curtis Bass, Barbara Curtis Mitchell, Dorothy Curtis Mitchell; three brothers, Harold Curtis, Charles Curtis, and William Curtis. A man of many talents, he was: a policeman, a mechanic, an entrepreneur of entrepreneurs, a Zephyr filling station proprietor, and a builder of sewer and septic systems. He was a man who lived life, who drove anything with an engine: cars, caterpillars, motorcycles, dump trucks and tractors.

He endured whatever life tossed him and never stopped. In the words of Kahlil Gibran, “He laughed all of his laughter and cried all of his tears.” Whether sad, mad, glad, or scared, he expressed himself – he didn’t bottle it up.Robert will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Mourning) Curtis of Cassopolis; one daughter, Norma (Floyd) Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons, Stephen (Sion) Curtis of Cassopolis, John Curtis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert (Debbrena) Curtis of Vandalia, Michael (Cassandra) Curtis of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Sharon Curtis Haithcox of Cassopolis, Victoria Curtis Nolan of Chicago, Illinois, Judith Curtis of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Gary (Catherine) Curtis of Cassopolis, Richard (Jan) Curtis of Chicago, Illinois; brother in law, Pete Mitchell of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
