Robert E. “Bob” Cook was born June 19, 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late J. Maxwell and Della M. Cook and died on April 26, 2012. Bob grew up in Three Rivers, Michigan and graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1940. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 where he proudly served during WW II. He loved to tell the story how he celebrated VE Day in Paris and London and VJ day in Okinama.
Bob founded Abrasive Products and Abrasive Processing in Fortville, Indiana in 1957. He was an avid bridge player, fisherman and world traveller and a member of the Fortville Lion’s Club and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dr. J. Maxwell Cook, sister Betty M. Rudd and grandson, Christopher Kelly Cook. Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia F. (Kelly) Cook and his four children; Robert Kelly (Cheryl) Cook, Patricia (Warner) Young, Colleen (John) Dangler and Kathy Donley. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Amy (Don) Textor, Jennifer (Jason) Kehrer, Heather Donley, Michael (Brooke) Donley, Julie (Tony) Ave, Megan (Bill) Bissmeyer, Charles Robert Cook and James Patrick (JP) Cook. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and sixteen nieces and nephews.
