Bob Kudrna died of natural causes at his home in Alameda, California, on October 11, 2011. He was 64. He was born on February 10, 1947, and raised in Ontario, Oregon. He graduated from Ontario High School in 1965. Bob received a B.S. in Microbiology from Oregon State University in 1969, his PhD in Microbial Genetics from the University of California at Davis, and completed post-doctorial studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He was a genetic engineer at Chiron Coorperation, Emeryville, California until his retirement.
Bob was a man with many interests and talents that included windsurfing, golfing, and snow skiing. He was accomplished musician and loved sharing his gifts with others. Words cannot express what he meant to family and friends.
Bob was involved in The Class of 65 Foundation in Ontario, Oregon, which supports higher education for deserving students from Ontario High School.
Bob is survived by his brother Dale and wife, Roxanne, of Payette, Idaho; his sister Ann of Bend, Oregon; and nieces and nephews: Rebecca Hammagren of Corvallis, OR; Rachel Kudrna of Seattle, WA; Caitlin Sieberts of Bend, OR; Joseph Kudrna of Fruitland, ID; Brenett Marsh of Payette, ID; Breanne Kokos of La Grande, OR; and Bailey Nelson of Payette, ID.
