Robert E. “Bob” Dillard, 76 of Three Oaks, Michigan died early Saturday morning at River Ridge Manor, Inc. in Niles following a brief hospitalization and recent admission to the nursing home.
Robert was born on April 18, 1931 in Bristol, Tennessee, son of Manuel David Dillard and Grace (Vanover) Dillard.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in post war Europe. As a long time employee of GTE Lenkirt, he retired in 1986 from his last position as a Director in the Midwest for the company. After Bob’s retirement, he and Dorothy moved to Three Oaks to be closer to Dorothy’s family. They became an integral part of the community and donated land which later became Dillard Park.
Bob enjoyed antiques and operated the Heart Works Antique Store in Three Oaks until the fall of 2006. In addition to his wife, the former Dorothy Sheeley, he is survived by a step-son, Curtis Sechler, daughter-in-law, Joyce Sechler, grandchildren, Michelle Duncan and Kenneth Sechler, III and 6 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by a sister, Rhoda Green and niece Lisa Biles who both reside in Texas. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Kenneth Sechler, Jr.
