MSG Robert Daniel Patterson (Ret.), born on April 1, 1927, passed quietly away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. At the time of his death, he was living in Dawsonville, GA, but spent most of his adult life based in Fayetteville, NC. Robert was one of nine children of parents Melvin Eugene and Ivalene Patterson of Tazewell County, Virginia, where he spent his early years. Not wanting the life of a coal miner for himself or his family, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and relocated to North Carolina in 1944. He married the love of his life, Ollie Frances Brewster, on December 24, 1950, and was married for close to 47 years until her death in 1997.
